Project Overview
The Brief
Narrative 4 is a nonprofit global organization driven by artists, educators, and students, dedicated to fostering empathy and connection through the transformative power of storytelling. At the heart of their mission lies the core methodology of the story exchange, designed to empower students by affirming the significance of their voices, stories, and actions. Narrative 4 believes in the potential of youth to drive positive transformation in their communities, envisioning a world where storytelling bridges divides and replaces isolation with curiosity and collaboration. Through their platform, they aim to build community and promote understanding, guided by the mantra, "Building community through the power of storytelling."
Narrative 4 sought to revamp its online presence to better articulate its mission and offerings while aligning with its recently established brand guidelines. The primary goal was to create a visually engaging website that not only showcased the organization's services, but also effectively communicated its vision of building community through the power of storytelling. One of the main objectives of this project was to create a user-centric website with a clear content hierarchy and intuitive information architecture. By enhancing the user experience, the new website aimed to facilitate seamless navigation, enabling visitors to easily understand who Narrative 4 is, the problems they address, and the services they provide.
Moreover, the project aimed to establish a robust foundation to support Narrative 4's future growth and scalability. This involved creating a scalable website and easy-to-use CMS with page builder components that would equip the organization with the necessary tools and frameworks to continually update and expand the website as their initiatives evolved. By building a platform that could accommodate future content additions and structural enhancements, the objective was to ensure that Narrative 4 could effectively leverage their online presence to drive growth, expand outreach, and foster meaningful community engagement. Ultimately, the project sought to empower Narrative 4 with an impactful, scalable website that embodied their mission and enabled them to realize their vision of creating a world where storytelling serves as a catalyst for connection and positive change. I contributed as the main web designer for this project, in collaboration with the team at Column Five Media.
Process & Outcome
This project began with the creation of a sitemap and information architecture, which involved a comprehensive page-by-page content outline to ensure optimal user experience and seamless information flow throughout the website. Next, the sitemap and page outline were used to create high-fidelity wireframes, serving as a detailed blueprint, delineating the website's structure and the content to be featured on each page.
Leveraging Narrative 4's fresh branding and style guide, the UI design process aimed to infuse the site with a welcoming and engaging aesthetic. The overarching goal was to showcase the organization's content in a manner that resonated deeply with visitors, strengthening their connection to the nonprofit's cause.
Most importantly, this site was built with scalability in mind. By creating a library of reusable page builder components, the website could effortlessly accommodate the addition of new pages and content as the organization expanded and evolved. This strategic approach not only facilitated seamless growth but also empowered Narrative 4 to continually leverage their online presence as a catalyst for positive change.
Wireframing Process
During the wireframing phase, high-fidelity wireframes were crafted to provide various layout options for different sections, showcasing how content and information could be visually represented across the website. This approach established a solid foundation for the subsequent design phase, guiding informed decisions regarding the overall structure and content presentation.
